Lysophosphatidylserine Nanoparticles Trigger Oral Immune Tolerance Without Relying on TIM-4 or Usual Processing

Updated

Abstract

LysoPS nanoparticles induced tolerance to ovalbumin comparable to wild-type mice in TIM-4 knockout models.

  • Mice treated with LysoPS nanoparticles showed reduced antibody responses after oral administration.
  • Only LysoPS, and not double-chain phosphatidylserine, was effective in promoting tolerance based on the route of delivery.
  • Structural differences between phosphatidylserine and lysophosphatidylserine may influence their tolerogenic potential.
  • LysoPS nanoparticles did not engage with immune cells in the same way as PS nanoparticles, indicating different interaction pathways.
  • TIM-4 deficiency did not affect the ability of LysoPS nanoparticles to induce tolerance.
