Updated

Abstract

Fifteen participants with diabetes identified three key benefits of using mobile health apps for self-management.

  • Participants noted the ability to track and monitor diabetes control as a significant benefit.
  • Lifestyle modification assistance was highlighted as another important advantage of mHealth app support.
  • The use of mHealth apps could facilitate more informed treatment decisions by health care professionals.
  • Barriers to using mHealth apps included a lack of awareness about their availability and insufficient support for app usage.
  • Participants expressed a need for user-friendly designs, educational information, and social engagement features in mHealth apps.
  • A willingness to use mHealth apps was prevalent among participants, particularly if guided by health care professionals.
