Once-Weekly Mazdutide Treatment for Obesity or Overweight in Chinese Adults

Abstract

Among 610 participants, the mean percentage change in body weight at week 32 was -10.09% for the 4 mg mazdutide group and -12.55% for the 6 mg mazdutide group.

  • The placebo group experienced a mean percentage change in body weight of only 0.45% at week 32.
  • At week 32, 73.9% of participants in the 4 mg mazdutide group and 82.0% in the 6 mg group achieved at least a 5% reduction in body weight, compared to only 10.5% in the placebo group.
  • By week 48, the mean percentage change in body weight was -11.00% for the 4 mg group and -14.01% for the 6 mg group, with 35.7% and 49.5% achieving at least a 15% reduction, respectively.
  • Mazdutide treatment was associated with beneficial effects on all prespecified cardiometabolic measures.
  • The most common adverse events were gastrointestinal, mostly mild to moderate, with low discontinuation rates due to adverse events (1.5% for 4 mg, 0.5% for 6 mg, and 1.0% for placebo).
