Meal and snack habits of 7- to 13-year-old schoolchildren in southern Brazil

Abstract

Lunch was the most consumed meal among schoolchildren at 96.0%.

  • Four dietary patterns were identified for breakfast, mid-morning snack, lunch, dinner, and evening snack.
  • Three dietary patterns were identified specifically for mid-afternoon snacks.
  • Traditional Brazilian foods were prevalent in the patterns for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
  • Patterns including fast foods and sugary beverages were primarily observed for evening snacks.
