Abstract
The mean adherence score to the Mediterranean Diet among 340 university staff in Southern Italy was 7.34 (±1.9).
- Adherence to the Mediterranean Diet was significantly lower in younger employees compared to those over 45 years (p = .003).
- Multiple regression analyses indicated a direct association between higher MEDAS scores and being in the older age group, even after adjustments.
- The majority of participants did not meet dietary guidelines for recommended consumption of fruits, nuts, and fish.
- There is a need for educational programs to enhance Mediterranean Diet adherence, particularly among young adults, to help prevent chronic diseases.
