Metabolic differences in common psoriasis and palmoplantar pustulosis

Updated

Abstract

This study included 93 patients (73 with psoriasis vulgaris and 20 with palmoplantar pustulosis) and matched healthy volunteers.

  • Psoriasis vulgaris patients exhibited increased levels of several metabolites, including , serotonin, and proline, compared to healthy volunteers.
  • Palmoplantar pustulosis patients had significantly elevated sarcosine levels relative to healthy volunteers.
  • Both psoriasis vulgaris and palmoplantar pustulosis patients showed a higher sarcosine/glycine ratio than healthy volunteers.
  • Pathway analysis indicated significant increases in metabolites related to amino acid metabolism and the urea cycle in psoriasis vulgaris patients.
  • Distinct metabolic profiles were identified between patients with psoriasis vulgaris and palmoplantar pustulosis and healthy volunteers.
