A metabolite-descriptor machine-learning model may help distinguish long COVID from several similar conditions but not fibromyalgia.

Evidence

A metabolomics machine-learning study trained a multilayer perceptron on molecular descriptors of PASC-dysregulated metabolites and reported an independent-test AUC-ROC of 0.8991, with separation from ME/CFS, Lyme disease, POTS, and IBS.

Caveat

The model did not differentiate fibromyalgia from PASC, and the abstract does not show prospective clinical validation in patients.
