Mobile Apps for People Caring for Dementia Patients: A Detailed Review

Of the 35 evaluated mHealth apps for dementia caregivers, 83% provided educational information.

  • The most common type of information in the apps was educational content, with 29 out of 35 apps including this.
  • Tangible actions were offered in 18 of the 35 apps, while referral information was included in 14 apps.
  • Only 20% of apps indicated whether their content was generated or reviewed by experts.
  • A mere 11% of apps explained how their content was selected.
  • Seventeen percent of apps implemented at least one type of tailoring to personalize the information provided.
