  • Neuroinflammation mediated by LPS/TLR4 signaling and alterations in the vagal and enteric nervous systems are potential pathways connecting gut health to brain function.
  • Oxidative stress and neuroendocrine dysregulation may also contribute to cognitive impairments observed at high altitudes.
  • Microbiota-targeted interventions, such as probiotics and prebiotics, could help restore gut health and mitigate cognitive deficits, although human evidence is limited.
