Abstract

Epigallocatechin gallate-quercetin co-assembled nanoparticles (EQ NPs) significantly inhibited the activation of the mtDNA-mediated cGAS-STING pathway.

  • Mitochondrial dysfunction linked to mtDNA release is associated with excessive inflammation.
  • EQ NPs reduced the formation of oxidized mtDNA fragments and inhibited their leakage into the cytoplasm.
  • The nanoparticles neutralized escaped mtDNA fragments through adsorption, potentially reducing inflammation.
  • EQ NPs promoted mitophagy to eliminate damaged mitochondria.
  • In vivo, EQ NPs enhanced chronic wound healing through bacteriostasis, anti-inflammation, immunomodulation, and angiogenesis.
