Targeting MNT for Better Treatment of Acute Myeloid Leukemia

Updated

Abstract

Essence

MNT appears to be a dependency in MLL-fusion acute myeloid leukemia and may be a therapeutic target.

Evidence

Mouse and human AML models showed that deleting MNT triggered AML cell apoptosis, increased sensitivity to BH3 mimetics in vitro, and extended survival in transplanted mice, with half of mouse recipients becoming leukemia free.

Caveat

The evidence comes from gene deletion in cell-line and transplant models rather than from a direct small-molecule MNT inhibitor in patients.
