Oxidative Stress in Monocytes May Drive Ongoing Immune Activation in Long COVID with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome

Updated

Abstract

Essence

Long COVID POTS was linked to monocyte oxidative stress, IsoLG neoantigen formation, and persistent T cell activation.

Evidence

This patient comparison study measured monocyte oxidative stress, antioxidant pathways, IsoLG formation, T cell-monocyte doublets, cytokines, and symptom correlations in LCPOTS versus recovered SARS-CoV-2 controls without POTS.

Caveat

The abstract reports immune associations and mechanistic signals in patients, but does not show that these pathways cause LCPOTS or that targeting them improves outcomes.
