Multiple analyses identify Neisseria flavescens as a key mouth bacteria linked to healthy aging in humans

Updated

Abstract

Neisseria flavescens is associated with decelerated aging in humans.

  • In silico analysis identified Neisseria flavescens as a leading candidate for reducing biological age.
  • Increased abundance of N. flavescens is linked to favorable physiological markers and beneficial gut bacteria.
  • Two strains of N. flavescens were shown to produce beneficial metabolites.
  • Live N. flavescens extended lifespan and healthspan in Caenorhabditis elegans.
  • Heat-killed N. flavescens supplementation in aged mice restored several biological indicators to younger-like states.
