Mutations in insulin or growth factor receptors produce traits of long-lived mice while keeping metabolism healthy

Updated

Abstract

Essence

IR or IGF-1R KID mutations produced early aging-linked molecular features while preserving growth and glucose regulation in mice.

Evidence

Knock-in mouse and human-cell experiments tested homologous KID Arg/Cys substitutions in IR or IGF-1R, measuring receptor signaling, growth, glucose regulation, hormones, and liver transcriptomic age.

Caveat

Lifespan was not measured, and the strongest age signal was transcriptomic and specific to 4-month IGF-1R female livers.
