A plant extract from modified Yanghe decoction may reduce cell death in bone marrow stem cells and help steroid-induced bone loss by activating protective cell pathways

Updated

Abstract

MYHD-NB significantly improved the osteoporosis-like phenotype in mice, enhancing bone microstructure and increasing ALP and RUNX2 expression.

  • -related genes are significantly upregulated in the femurs of patients with glucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis.
  • MYHD-NB reduces dexamethasone-induced ferroptosis in bone marrow stem cells (BMSCs), promoting their proliferation and differentiation.
  • Activation of the HIF-1α/GPX4 signaling pathway is associated with the anti-ferroptotic effects of MYHD-NB.
  • Genetic ablation of HIF-1α negates the therapeutic effects of MYHD-NB, suggesting its critical role in treatment.
