How Night Eating and Binge Eating Disorders Relate to Overall Health in Lebanese University Students
Updated
Abstract
Among 460 university students in Lebanon, a relatively high prevalence of night eating syndrome (NES) and binge eating disorder (BED) was noted.
- Participants with the highest income reported the highest scores on the Night Eating Diagnostic Questionnaire (NEDQ).
- Females and those with a history of eating disorders were more likely to exhibit binge eating disorder.
- A significant correlation exists between a history of eating disorders and negative impacts on general health.
- Body mass index (BMI) was correlated with both NES and binge eating disorder scores.
- Having night eating syndrome was associated with a higher likelihood of having binge eating disorder.
- Participants with NES scored higher on the General Health Questionnaire (GHQ-12), indicating poorer general health.
