Abstract
Nobiletin (NOB) improved spatial learning and memory in mice subjected to a high-salt diet (HSD).
- NOB was found to counteract cognitive deficits caused by an HSD in behavioral tests.
- Restoration of gut microbiota balance was observed following NOB treatment.
- NOB treatment reduced serum levels of lipopolysaccharides (LPS), indicating decreased gut permeability.
- The treatment also suppressed neuroinflammation in the hippocampus through the TLR4/NF-κB pathway.
- The neuroprotective effects of NOB are linked to the upregulation of miR-132-3p, which is essential for its mechanism of action.
