Abstract
Eighteen genes, including RHOB, were identified as being upregulated by norepinephrine in human trabecular meshwork cells.
- Intraocular pressure (IOP) increases at night, influenced by norepinephrine from the superior cervical ganglion.
- The regulation of IOP rhythm is linked to the dynamics of aqueous humor outflow through the trabecular meshwork.
- RHOB deficiency appears to enhance the ability of trabecular meshwork cells to clear debris and counteract norepinephrine's effects on permeability.
- Inhibitors of RHO and ROCK reduced nocturnal and norepinephrine-induced increases in IOP in mice.
- These findings indicate that RHOB may play a crucial role in regulating IOP rhythm and could be a target for glaucoma therapies.
