Nose Delivery of mRNA Nanoparticles Bypasses the Blood-Brain Barrier for Brain Disease Treatment
Updated
Abstract
Essence
A screened intranasal mRNA-LNP platform may enable brain-targeted mRNA delivery and improve TBI-like injury in mice.
Evidence
Preclinical nanoparticle-screening and rmTBI mouse experiments found positively charged INBT LNPs drove brain-specific mRNA expression and BDNF/IL-10 delivery improved inflammation, neuronal death, and cognition.
Caveat
The therapeutic evidence comes from a mouse rmTBI model, so human brain delivery, safety, and efficacy for CNS disorders remain untested.
