Link Between New Diabetes Drugs and Atrial Fibrillation Risk in Type 2 Diabetes Patients: Combined Analysis of Studies

Abstract

A network meta-analysis evaluated the atrial fibrillation risk associated with sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 inhibitors (SGLT-2i), glucagonlike peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RA), and dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitors (DPP-4i) in patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus.

SGLT-2i, GLP-1RA, and DPP-4i are commonly used medications for managing Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus.
The analysis focused on the potential risk these medications may pose for developing atrial fibrillation.
Findings from the analysis could help inform treatment decisions regarding diabetes management.
