A new treatment for skin aged by sun exposure

Updated

Abstract

Application of a folic acid- and creatine-containing formulation significantly improved epidermal turnover and reduced wrinkle volume in clinical evaluations.

  • Cultured skin models treated with folic acid and creatine showed accelerated skin regeneration compared to untreated controls.
  • Smaller corneocytes were observed in vivo at treated sites, indicating enhanced epidermal turnover.
  • Topical application of the formulation provided protection from UV-induced DNA damage.
  • The treatment resulted in increased skin firmness and a significant reduction in both fine and coarse wrinkles.
  • Clinical assessments confirmed improvements in tactile roughness and skin laxity after treatment.
