Nutrient Intake and Nutrition Levels in Elite Mexican Teen Soccer Players of Different Ages

Updated

Abstract

Fourteen percent of soccer players exhibited hyperuricemia.

  • All players were within normal ranges for anthropometric measurements.
  • Plasma glucose, urea, creatinine, uric acid, lipid profile, and total proteins were generally normal, though albumin levels were elevated.
  • Energy expenditure and intake were normal for most players, but two teams showed significantly lower intakes than their energy demands.
  • Most macronutrient intakes met recommendations, except for protein, which was higher than suggested levels.
  • Micronutrient intake exceeded general population recommendations, but food choices were predominantly low in fruits, vegetables, and dairy.
