Personalized Nutritional Support for Patients with Long-Term Kidney Failure in Specialized Care

Updated

Abstract

Phosphate levels were significantly lower in patients receiving nutritional support compared to those who did not.

  • In patients receiving nutritional support, phosphate and blood urea nitrogen (BUN) levels were reduced, particularly in stages 4 and 5 of chronic kidney disease (CKD).
  • The prevalence of hyperphosphatemia was notably lower in the nutritional treatment group at all CKD stages examined.
  • Serum albumin levels were higher in the nutritional treatment group, especially in stage 5 CKD patients.
  • The use of calcium-free intestinal phosphate binders, erythropoiesis stimulating agents, and active Vitamin D preparations was significantly reduced in the nutritional treatment group.
