Abstract

Essence

Olfactory cleft adhesions may be a surgically treatable contributor to persistent post-COVID smell loss.

Evidence

This case series describes 4 patients with medically unresponsive PCOD and CT-confirmed bilateral olfactory cleft obstruction treated with endoscopic sinus surgery.

Caveat

The evidence is limited to four selected cases, and surgery may cause mucosal damage or produce no improvement or worsening of olfactory dysfunction.
