Online Educational Video Improves Bowel Cleaning and Lowers Repeat Colonoscopy Within Three Years

A total of 92.3% of patients who viewed an educational video had satisfactory bowel preparations compared to 87.4% of those who did not.

  • Viewing an educational video is associated with higher rates of satisfactory bowel preparation.
  • The definition of satisfactory bowel preparation includes excellent, good, or adequate classifications.
  • Patients who did not view the video had a higher need for repeat colonoscopy within 3 years.
  • The repeat colonoscopy rate was 6.6% for non-viewers compared to 3.3% for viewers.
