Online gaming addiction linked to sensation seeking, self-control, personality traits, aggression, and anxiety

Abstract

Data from 123 university students indicate that five personality traits are significantly associated with online gaming addiction.

  • Neuroticism is linked to higher levels of online gaming addiction.
  • Sensation seeking may contribute to increased online gaming addiction.
  • Both state and trait anxiety are associated with online gaming addiction.
  • Aggression shows a significant relationship with online gaming addiction.
  • Further research is needed to confirm these findings.
