Oral semaglutide lowers diabetes stress in adults with type 2 diabetes switching from DPP-4 inhibitor treatment

Abstract

Mean glycated haemoglobin (HbA1c) decreased by 0.7 ± 0.05% after transitioning to oral semaglutide.

  • A total of 281 patients participated, with a mean age of 67.5 years and 55.9% being male.
  • Mean body weight decreased by -3.6 ± 0.22 kg from the start to the end of the study.
  • Patient-reported outcomes showed reduced diabetes-related distress and improved eating behaviors.
  • Adverse events were reported by 23.1% of participants, with no hypoglycaemic episodes documented.
