Orforglipron compared with dapagliflozin for adults with type 2 diabetes not well controlled by metformin

Updated

Abstract

At week 40, all doses of orforglipron reduced HbA1c by 1.23% to 1.56%, compared to 0.81% with dapagliflozin.

  • Orforglipron showed non-inferior efficacy compared to dapagliflozin in reducing HbA1c levels in adults with type 2 diabetes.
  • Estimated treatment differences indicated that orforglipron at all doses provided greater reductions in HbA1c than dapagliflozin.
  • Mild-to-moderate gastrointestinal events were the most common adverse effects associated with orforglipron, affecting 46% to 54% of participants.
  • Higher rates of study discontinuation due to adverse events were observed with orforglipron compared to dapagliflozin.
  • No severe hypoglycaemic episodes were reported in any treatment group.
