Blocking PCSK9 may reduce liver cancer's ability to avoid the immune system by lowering FLI1-driven SPP1 and PD-L1 levels

Updated

Abstract

Essence

Blocking reduced hepatocellular carcinoma immune escape by lowering -driven SPP1 and PD-L1 expression.

Evidence

This cancer biology study combined cell co-cultures, mouse tumor models, single-cell and flow immune profiling, CRISPR adenine base editing, and small-molecule screening with parecoxib.

Caveat

The intervention evidence is limited to cell and mouse models, and the patient data support association with poor survival rather than clinical treatment benefit.

Simplified

Key numbers

17×
Increase in CD8T-cell activity
CD8T-cell activity against -deficient cells compared to controls.
75%
Tumor growth reduction
Tumor size reduction in mice treated with parecoxib.
