Long-term symptoms in children after COVID-19 infection in Taiwan from the DISCOVER study

Updated

Abstract

Essence

Taiwanese children with post-COVID symptoms showed multisystem, immune-linked PASC, with signals that vaccination, advanced diagnostics, and vitamin D may improve assessment or recovery.

Evidence

This review synthesized findings from the prospective multidisciplinary DISCOVER pediatric cohort, including validated symptom screening, pulmonary and AI-assisted cardiac assessments, immune biomarkers, vaccination analyses, and a preliminary single-center randomized vitamin D trial.

Caveat

The vitamin D evidence is early and single-center, and the broader findings come from cohort-based and multimodal assessments that do not by themselves prove causality for most interventions.
