Peer-led or peer-supported physical activity and health in older adults living in the community

Updated

Abstract

A review will evaluate the effectiveness of peer-led or peer-supported physical activity interventions for older adults across multiple health outcomes.

  • Physical activity interventions may improve adherence among older adults facing barriers such as cost and motivation.
  • The impact of these interventions on physical activity levels and physical function is inconsistent.
  • Effects on cognitive abilities, psychosocial well-being, and social support have not been thoroughly examined.
  • Peer characteristics and program design may influence the effectiveness of these interventions.
  • The review will include randomized controlled trials and other study designs up to December 2025.
