Factors linked to phubbing as a combination of virtual addictions

Updated

Abstract

A sample of 409 university students indicates that mobile phone is the strongest predictor of behavior.

  • Phubbing behavior involves individuals prioritizing their mobile phones over interpersonal communication.
  • Mobile phone, SMS, social media, and internet addictions are identified as key determinants of phubbing.
  • The highest correlation with phubbing is associated with mobile phone addiction.
  • Other forms of addiction also suggest a dependency that contributes to phubbing behavior.
  • Gender, smartphone ownership, and social media membership may moderate the effects of these addictions on phubbing.
