Abstract
At baseline, 49% of police officers in Denmark preferred four consecutive night shifts.
- At follow-up, 57% preferred the intervention of four consecutive night shifts followed by four days off.
- Preferences for two or seven consecutive night shifts were each reported by 26% of participants.
- Participants favoring longer night shifts reported finding night work less demanding.
- Those who preferred longer night shifts also found it easier to sleep at various times of the day.
- Evening types were more common among participants preferring longer spells of night work.
