How Common Hair Shedding Is and What Predicts It in People Using GLP-1 Medicines in Saudi Arabia

Updated

Abstract

Essence

Hair shedding was commonly reported after GLP-1 receptor agonist use in this Saudi survey, especially among women and people with larger weight loss.

Evidence

This cross-sectional study of 152 current and former GLP-1 receptor agonist users found 70.4% reported hair shedding, with higher prevalence in tirzepatide users and independent associations with greater weight loss and female sex.

Caveat

Because the study used self-reported survey data without a control group, the high prevalence estimate cannot establish that the drugs caused the hair shedding.
