Lipid nanoparticles linked to inactive drug forms for combined mRNA cancer immunotherapy

Updated

Abstract

Essence

A prodrug lipid nanoparticle co-delivering IL-12 mRNA and an IDO inhibitor produced strong antitumor immune effects in a mouse colon cancer model.

Evidence

This was a formulation and preclinical mouse study testing prodrug ionizable lipid nanoparticles in transfection assays and a subcutaneous colon cancer model with primary and distal tumors.

Caveat

The evidence is limited to platform experiments and mouse tumors, so it does not establish safety or efficacy in human cancer.
