Psilocybe cubensis significantly alleviated PTSD symptoms shortly after administration.

  • Psilocybe cubensis was administered at a dose of 25 mg/kg to male rats in a model of PTSD.
  • Short-term effects included a reduction in PTSD-like behavior and locomotor activity.
  • The mushroom extract increased pain perception and decreased anxiety in the long term.
  • This study represents the first evaluation of Psilocybe cubensis on PTSD-like behavior in rats over multiple time points.
