Single-dose psilocybin may ease depressive symptoms in adults with MDD and BPD without clearly improving BPD symptoms.

Evidence

An open-label pilot study of nine adults with DSM-5 MDD and BPD tested one psilocybin dose and found MDD scores fell from 28.56 to 17.22 by 4 weeks while BPD scores did not significantly change.

Caveat

Without a control group and with only nine participants over 4 weeks, it cannot separate psilocybin effects from time, expectancy, or support.
