How Psychedelic Therapy and Positive Emotions Are Linked to Self-Compassion

Updated

Abstract

Essence

Positive emotional experiences, especially self-compassion, were linked to mental health improvements after psychedelic therapy.

Evidence

The evidence came from a naturalistic observational psychedelic-use study and a clinical trial comparing 25mg psilocybin with 1mg psilocybin or escitalopram in major depressive disorder.

Caveat

The emotional experience measures were retrospective self-reports, limiting how directly their role in treatment outcomes can be established.
