Updated

Abstract

Of 5,370 respondents, 56.3% reported typically co-using at least one psychedelic substance.

  • Co-use of psychedelics was lowest for ayahuasca (14.8%) and highest for nitrous oxide (54.5%).
  • Cannabis and alcohol were the most frequently reported secondary substances used in conjunction with psychedelics.
  • Use of depressants increased following psychedelic experiences.
  • Greater experience with psychedelics was significantly linked to higher rates of co-use.
  • Recreational use of psychedelics was associated with increased co-use, while personal exploration and therapeutic use were linked to lower co-use.
