Abstract

A total of 1432 participants completed treatments in the analysis of psychological therapies for children's pain.

  • Psychological therapies showed a significant reduction in headache pain, with an odds ratio of 5.51 immediately post-treatment.
  • At follow-up, the odds ratio for headache pain reduction increased to 9.91.
  • Non-headache treatments demonstrated a large effect size of -0.94 immediately post-treatment.
  • The effect size for non-headache treatments at follow-up was -1.08.
  • Limited evidence exists regarding the effects of psychological therapies on disability or mood.
