Updated

Abstract

The analysis included 47 randomized controlled trials with a total of 2985 participants.

  • Psychological therapies may improve adaptive parenting behavior in parents of children with cancer immediately post-treatment.
  • Parent mental health can also improve at follow-up for parents of children with cancer receiving psychological therapies.
  • Problem solving therapy is associated with beneficial effects on both parent adaptive behavior and mental health immediately after treatment.
  • No significant effects were found for cognitive behavioral therapy on parent outcomes across the studied conditions.
  • Adverse events were reported in only five studies, while the remaining studies did not report any adverse events.
