Psychological wellbeing linked to COVID-19 outcomes in Europeans aged 50 and older

Updated

Abstract

A total of 29,597 participants were analyzed, revealing that individuals with the highest psychological wellbeing scores had 2.68 times higher odds of COVID-19 vaccination.

  • Higher scores on the psychological wellbeing scale were linked to a 23% reduction in the likelihood of long COVID.
  • No significant association was found between psychological wellbeing and the risk of SARS-CoV-2 infection.
  • Protective effects of psychological wellbeing on COVID-19 outcomes were more pronounced with increasing scores on the wellbeing scale.
  • The findings suggest that psychological wellbeing may influence vaccination rates and long COVID risks in adults aged 50 and older.
