Qi-fu-yin's effects on memory problems and brain cell aging in a mouse model of Alzheimer's

Updated

Abstract

QFY treatment dramatically reduced cortical Aβ plaque burden in 5xFAD mice.

  • QFY therapy improved learning and memory performance in 5xFAD mice.
  • Significant decreases in Aβ1-42 and Aβ1-42/Aβ1-40 levels were observed in the hippocampus after QFY treatment.
  • Increased levels of synaptic proteins GAP-43, PSD-95, and SYN were found in the cortex following QFY administration.
  • The treatment also led to reduced activity of senescence-associated β-galactosidase (SA-β-Gal) in the brain.
  • A strong negative association was identified between senescence-associated secretory phenotype (SASP) cytokines and synaptic protein levels.
