Tiaobu Xinshen Recipe may improve memory problems by protecting brain connections and lowering harmful protein in Alzheimer's mice

Updated

Abstract

TXR treatment resulted in a significantly shorter escape latency in the modified Morris water maze test compared to the 5xFAD-vehicle group.

  • TXR treatment increased the number of platform crossings and time spent in the target quadrant during spatial memory tests.
  • The synaptic ultrastructure in the hippocampal CA1 region showed significant improvement, with more mitochondria and synaptic vesicles, and an intact synaptic membrane.
  • Aβ load was significantly reduced in the cerebral cortex and hippocampus CA1 subregion of TXR-treated 5xFAD mice.
  • TXR treatment lowered levels of amyloid precursor protein while increasing insulin-degrading enzyme expression in the brains of 5xFAD mice.
  • No significant effects of TXR treatment were observed on α- and β-secretase or neprilysin levels in 5xFAD mice.
