Saikosaponin C may reduce tau protein problems in Alzheimer's by controlling cell stress and key signaling pathways

Abstract

Saikosaponin C (SSc) significantly alleviated cognitive deficits and tau-related pathology in a human tau mouse model of Alzheimer's disease.

  • SSc treatment improved spatial memory in mice exhibiting tau pathology.
  • Excessive tau phosphorylation and oxidative stress were reduced in AAV-hTau-injected mice after SSc administration.
  • Dendritic spine density, an indicator of synaptic health, was restored following SSc treatment.
  • Neuroinflammation associated with Alzheimer's-like pathology was decreased by SSc.
  • SSc may mitigate tau pathology and neurotoxicity induced by aluminum chloride through its antioxidant properties and effects on signaling pathways.
