Abstract

Scnn1b-Tg mice inoculated with SARS-CoV-2MA10 exhibited lower viral titers and less weight loss than WT mice.

  • Airway epithelia of Scnn1b-Tg mice were less infected compared to WT mice.
  • Increased airway mucus and enhanced antiviral activities were observed in Scnn1b-Tg mice.
  • Scnn1b-Tg mice showed heterogeneous airway and lung disease with elevated IL-33 expression.
  • Administration of an anti-IL-33 receptor monoclonal antibody reduced the development of eosinophilic pneumonia.
  • Enteral prednisone decreased IL-33 expression and associated disease in Scnn1b-Tg mice.
