Effectiveness and safety of semaglutide injections compared to standard semaglutide for long-term weight control in Indian adults with obesity

Abstract

After 24 weeks, the novel formulation of Semaglutide Injection resulted in a weight change of -11.25%, demonstrating non-inferiority to the reference product's -11.50%.

  • 90.4% of participants receiving the novel formulation achieved at least 5% weight loss.
  • 58.0% of participants achieved at least 10% weight loss with the novel formulation.
  • Adverse events occurred in 63.3% of participants using the novel formulation and 62.8% using the reference product, primarily involving mild gastrointestinal symptoms.
  • No serious treatment-related adverse events, deaths, or discontinuations were reported in either group.
