Semaglutide increases blood vessel growth and heart function in a large animal model of heart damage from low blood flow

Updated

Abstract

Treated animals exhibited enhanced left ventricular filling and increased arteriolar density after semaglutide administration.

  • Semaglutide administration improved left ventricular end diastolic volume, stroke volume, and cardiac index.
  • Increased arteriolar density was observed in treated animals compared to controls.
  • Microvascular endothelium-dependent vasodilation showed significant improvement in the semaglutide group.
  • Molecular analysis indicated increases in factors associated with vascular remodeling and endothelial function.
