30-35% of patients with treatment-resistant depression respond to ketamine or esketamine treatment.

  • Increased levels of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) in the serum may indicate a positive response to antidepressant treatment.
  • Previous studies have focused on the effects of single intravenous doses of ketamine.
  • The relationship between BDNF expression and various treatment schedules has not been fully established.
