Combined SGLT2i and GLP1ra treatment lowers death risk in people with diabetes, especially in women

Updated

Abstract

Among a cohort of 15,118 patients, men had a 50% higher risk of all-cause mortality than women.

  • Combined therapy with SGLT2 inhibitors and GLP1 receptor agonists was linked to lower all-cause mortality compared to monotherapy.
  • Women exhibited a greater benefit from combined therapy, showing a significantly lower risk of all-cause mortality than men.
  • The median follow-up for this analysis was 33 months.
  • Older age and higher obesity incidence were observed in women, while men had a greater prevalence of coronary artery disease.
  • Treatment duration was also associated with reduced all-cause mortality risk.
